BER Legislation is being enforced as follows:

  • Since 1st January 2007, BER is required for new dwellings offered for sale or rent
  • From 1st July 2008 BER is required for new non-domestic buildings offered for sale or rent
  • From 1st January 2009, BER is required for any existing buildings offered for sale or letting.
  • Any public buildings shall display its energy rating.

Seamus has been part of the BER team on the home energy savings scheme headed by Sustainable Energy Ireland SEI in conjunction with Tipperary County Council. Phase 1 now completed.

COMMERCIAL OR NON-DOMESTIC BER ASSESSMENTS

Newtown Energy now conducts Commercial BER assessments, also known as Non-Domestic BER's, throughout Wexford,Wicklow Dublin, Ulster and the midlands region. Commercial Building Energy Ratings (BER) are required for any commercial or industrial building being sold, rented or let in Ireland, including Northern Ireland, from 1st January 2009. Commercial BER's are also valid for 10 years. BER's for larger commercial/industrial generally take 1-2 weeks to prepare depending on the complexity of the commercial building and whether it has air conditioning, renewable energies, number of zones, the age and type of construction and the complexity of associated systems like the electrical and heating layout and the type of ventilation/duct systems present, if any.
